I may have to rethink a few things...

I know I recently said I wanted Baby to feel comfortable in the kitchen.
That whole idea may indeed be wrong.

4 yr olds do not need to cook an egg on a gas stove, or feel so comfy in the kitchen that they try

Fortunately I am still feeling the sugar/caffeine high from this morning.

.

Otherwise someone might be feeling the burn-and I am not talking from the stove!

The egg outside the pan, and the shell inside. I'd like to have seen how they managed that one.

Did you catch it in progress?

She's trying to imitate you. She just got the egg and the shell reversed. I'll bet she's trying to wear your shoes too. With a little training, she'll be able to help you do small things in the kitchen. You can make this work for you. I still say I'm in love with her.

Oh, she fried an egg alright, just not in the conventional way. You're raising an independent thinker!

I especially like how the dog is laying(a new trick)expectant. Baby feeds him all the time and I have had to cut back on his dogfood to keep him svelte. I think he was hoping to get her uh- oh. And it is probably good that I heard only "I going to cook some egg followed by a dejected "Ican never fix egg!" as she tromped down the hall.

Too funny. I had Rose on the step stool on Monday cooking with me! Great minds must think alike.

This is great!

I remember it started out with stuff like setting the table. Then prep work (each day, day in day out) until one day - I realized I had made dinner all by myself.

It's cool. Your daughter is going to grow to be a great cook (like her mom)!

I started "helping" in the kitchen when I was about 6 and was preparing full meals for 8completely by myself by the time I was 10 or so. 27 years later and the tradition repeats. Hopefully Baby will love cooking as much as I do. And of course my big girl B has a pretty good selection of basic recipes that she just knows and a growing set of cooking skills. She can prepare a meal pretty independantly though she occasionally has problems with fractions.
